A nuclear war can ruin your whole day

The United States President Obama and Russian President Medvedev met to talk about a new series of Geneva treaty and to pretty much ensure the Russians the States are not going to blast them.
Cold War legacy? I don't think Russia will be happy with that at all. A the meeting I can only guess the awkwardness that it was between both the American and Russian Presidents. Though its fair to say that in our world's current situation having a good military is a viable measure, it also brings the fact that every time we build some new technology, our "frienemies" will be very irritated and frightened at the same time.
Was this meeting truly for political purposes? I doubt so. The United States is currently updating their military arms and strategies while trying to conveying everyone else to not feel threatened at all. Besides, let's be honest Medvedev is really Putin's bitch at this point, this was probably one of the most unneeded meetings over the past few months.
Al Jazeera has a video on the topic, that can be checked out after the jump.

Hey man, it's Stu. Nice blog you have going.
Just wondering though, are you taking the ignorance is bliss approach to this issue? Is it not better to clear up the nasty ideas that are floating around?
Peace
haha thanks Stu!
Well, let's be honest, as much as the States say they've reached a sense of diplomacy with Russia (even though its not as bad as say....50 years ago), this is more a question of reassurance than actually making a treaty for the good of the people.
The treaty will really alleviate those "conspiracy ideas" so far, but at the same time it creates a sense of tension that only hinders their relationship.
And even though I sound pessimistic or harsh, I do agree its a good thing this treaty was set, all I'm saying is that if they're going to make peace treaties, so be it out of goodwill and diplomacy - not a chance to make sure that new war technology doesn't become a concern.
Agreed. I think politics has taken a whole new spin now. A country's reputation is suddenly more important than being sincerely ethical.
pff...if only I were prez.
